The National Patient Survey Programme, co-ordinated by the Healthcare Commission, gathers feedback from patients on different aspects of their experience of care they have recently received, across a variety of services/settings. Services/settings covered include: Inpatients, Outpatients, Emergency care, Maternity care, Mental health services, Primary care services and Ambulance services.
Results are used
A patient experience diagnostic tool has been developed in order to help trusts to analyse and understand patient experience data to see where improvements most need to be made. The tool has been updated and is currently in the process of being tested by users in the NHS. This is due to be published on the DH website in the autumn of 2008.
