This consultation is part of the Department of Health’s ongoing review of the arrangements under part IX of the Drug Tariff for the provision of stoma and incontinence appliances – and related services – to Primary Care. The Department last consulted on proposals regarding these arrangements in November 2006 – with a related consultation on terms of service having been published in March 2007. In light of responses to those consultations, the Department has revised its proposals and now seeks views on them.
The revised proposals are summarised in the main consultation document. Further details are provided in each of the annexes as indicated. For ease of reference, each of the relevant documents can be downloaded individually.
September 2007
Following the publication of this consultation, a number of meetings have been held in order to ensure understanding of the proposals. A copy of the presentation that was made at some of these is included here for reference – as are responses to the clarifications that were sought.
It has also been brought to our attention that the classification annexes may contain a number of factual errors. In order to capture these, a template has been developed for stakeholders to complete if they wish. It is attached here for reference.
October 2007
Please note that the deadline to notify the Department of any factual errors - via the change request published below - in the annexes relating to classification has been extended from the 12 October 2007 to 9 November 2007.
In light of this the closing date of the consultation has been extended from 29 November 2007 to 28 December 2007.
Revised proposals, taking into account the response to this consultation, were issued for consultation on 9 June 2008, with a closing date for responses of 8 September 2008.
