The publication of this document signals the start of a consultation process on how health and social care services can be improved for people subject to the criminal justice system in England. This is a joint initiative between the Department of Health, Department of Children, Schools and Families, Ministry of Justice, Youth Justice Board and the Home Office. Between them, these government departments/agencies have responsibility for health, social care and all the component services within the criminal justice system.
