This draft order sets out a proposed constitution for the HPC. It provides details of the composition of the council, the terms of office of council members, and criteria for the disqualification, suspension or removal of members from office.

The Health Care and Associate Professions (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2009 will shortly be laid before the Scottish and UK Parliaments. Subject to the approval of both Parliaments, it will make a number of changes to the constitutional arrangements for the Health Professions Council. Instead of the constitutional details of the HPC being set out the in the Health Professions Order 2001, these details must now be set out in a separate Constitution Order made by the Privy Council.

This paper considers the proposed constitution of the Health Professions Council.
