JCVI/CSM (Committee on the Safety of Medicines/Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) on sub-committee on adverse reactions to vaccines

JCVI sub-committee on adverse reactions to vaccination.

Question

Could you supply dates of when JCVI and the sub-committee on Adverse Reactions to Vaccination was set up.  There are two specific documents, both referred to in the minutes of meeting of the JCVI 4th June 2004, for which I would be grateful.  These are:

  • A paper by MHRA outlining the suspected adverse reactions (ADRs) received during 2003 (as compared to 2001 and 2002) in association with DTwP+/-Hib, OPV, MenC, MMR, BCG, DTaP, HepB, HepA and influenza vaccine.
  • A summary paper on claims received through the vaccine damage payment scheme which refers to DTP and neurological reactions.

Response

Disclosable information is contained in the two documents below.

A sub-committee of JCVI was set up in February 1980 called the CSM/JCVI (Committee on the Safety of Medicines/Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) on sub-committee on adverse reactions to vaccines.

I attach the information for the first paper as requested, however as this was written by MHRA the name of the author has been excluded under section 40 of the Act.  In addition, as some of the data contains a commercial interest which is a trade secret for company this has been excluded from the table under section 43 of the Act.
