King's Fund
In November 2007, Ivan Lewis, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Health, announced £1 million was to be made available for a new King’s Fund programme to improve environments for care at end of life.
This intitative followed a successful pilot programme focusing on end of life care during 2006/7, and builds on the King’s Fund’s award winning Enhancing the Healing Environment programme. Further details of the programme can be found at:
Trusts who join this new programme will be asked to nominate a multidisciplinary team to undertake a King’s Fund development programme. This will give them the skills and knowledge they need to plan and manage their projects. The trust will receive a capital project allocation of £30,000 from DH towards their scheme. In addition, trusts will be asked to commit at least £10,000 of capital funding to their project.
