The report 'Health is Global: Proposals for a UK Government-wide Strategy' makes the case for developing a global health strategy, one that will benefit the health of the UK population and those in the rest of the world.
The report provides a framework for developing the strategy and marks the start of a period of discussion on what are the current global health priorities, what the UK should focus on and what the global health strategy should look like. For the next 12 weeks we would like to hear your thoughts on whether our proposals are heading in the right direction.
We hope to feed these discussions in the publication of the global health strategy later in the year. We will then further consult on any policy proposals set out in the strategy. More details are available in the documents below.
The report provides a framework for developing a global health strategy and marks the beginning of a period of discussion on what are the current global health priorities, what the UK should focus on and what the global health strategy should look like. We would like to hear your thoughts on our proposals for a UK Government-wide global health strategy. We are particularly interested in your views on the following questions:
1. We will not be able to focus on every issue in the strategy so we need to identify the key priorities to focus on. We have identified the following four areas:
Are these the right priority areas for action?
2. We have also highlighted a number of specific questions in Chapter 5 of the report to help us think through the issues for the global health strategy and develop a coherent response. We would be interested in hearing your initial responses to these questions.
Please keep your responses to a maximum of 4 sides of A4 and send them by Thursday 31 May 2007 to the email address below.
We will be running stakeholder workshops to discuss the forthcoming strategy. If you would like further details, please register your interest by sending your contact details and organisation to the email address below:
