EU Presidency 2005 health policy overview

During the UK Presidency, work will continue on a number of legislative proposals, including improving the safety of medicines for children, and legislation on nutritional and health claims on food and vitamins.

The UK is aiming to make a substantive and lasting impact on the EU agenda in the following key areas:

  • tackling health inequalities
  • patient safety.

There will be two summits during the Presidency on these areas.

Empowering people will be an important theme across all areas of the health agenda.
