The EU Presidency Dental Programme took place during 5 - 9 September 2005. With an umbrella title of Meeting the Challenges of Change, its overarching themes were Patient Safety and Health Inequalities - two global initiatives which the UK Prime Minister asked the health community to focus on at the start of the UK Presidency of the EU in July.
European Union Chief Dental Officers lend their support to the Child Oral Health Declaration
The programme launched with the formalisation of a declaration on child dental health at The Institute of Directors by CDOs from over 40 different countries - and the same CDOs also lent their support to the call for the establishment of an international task force to carry forward the initiative. This was followed by a one-day conference at The Royal College of Physicians entitled European Dentistry - Creating a United Agenda. Over 150 delegates attended, including EU and Commonwealth Chief Dental Officers and their advisers, health service professionals, key academics and members of the British Dental Association.
