The Brain Injury Service Network is a county-wide inter-agency network. It serves four primary care trusts, two local councils and three Headway groups in Buckinghamshire and Milton (estimated population 750,000). The network includes both local and specialist county-wide brain injury services.
The network was first developed as an initiative led by individuals with Parkinson's disease to build capacity for local provision of specialist Parkinson's disease services. A group of allied health professionals with specialist interests are key stakeholders in the network.
This is a collaborative initiative with the Alzheimer's Society (London Region).
The Community Multiple Sclerosis Team (CMST) at the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, Newcastle is a member of the Regional Partnership Forum, an MS Society initiative which brings together all regional charities and health and social care providers to improve services for people with MS.
The SCR is a network for cognitive rehabilitation therapists and others with an interest in the provision of cognitive rehabilitation to people with acquired brain injury. It provides the opportunity for international networking through annual conferences, an annual News Bulletin and the publication of a directory of members. It also encourages members to carry out research and publish their findings. It has developed a process for certification of cognitive rehabilitation providers (CPCRT).
The nurse specialist team is a regional peer support group of seven Parkinson's disease nurses.
The multidisciplinary forum for clinicians working in the field of spasticity management began to meet in 2001. The forum brings together clinicians working in primary care, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopaedic and paediatric services.
