The STAR Project covers South East Wales and aims to support people with acquired brain injury to access a variety of vocational opportunities, including voluntary work, education and training, and paid employment.
The service runs a 3 day programme each week, which includes:
- work preparation group (13 topics over 16-week programme);
- IT group;
- individual emotional support provided by the liaison nurse;
- voluntary work experience placement;
- vocational profiling and
- individual one-to-one sessions as required.
The service has developed a number of tools to support clients and staff, which they are willing to share:
- in-house staff training, supported by core competencies for all disciplines;
- group work;
- workplace assessment;
- health and safety training and
- vocational profile.
