December 2004 guidance.
The Implementation Plan and associated documents link the allocation of modernisation funding for hospital medicines manufacturing to clinical governance and to decisions that will bring about fundamental changes in the way that medicines are manufactured and supplied to patients within the NHS. Whilst capital investment may be necessary to implement some of the recommendations for the modernisation of manufacturing services, other changes may be effected without investment.
This document is intended for managers, pharmacists and others in NHS organisations who may be involved in the modernisation process and in the disbursement of associated earmarked capital. It includes details of the bidding process for £42m of earmarked central capital that will be available across 2004/05 and 2005/06.
Resource document for organisations to implement the medicines management aspects of the three National Service Frameworks (NSFs) - diabetes, renal and Long Term Conditions (LTCs). It also provides examples of innovative practice which Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and NHS Trusts may want to implement.
This letter asks Trust to return a self-assessment set out in the document "Vision for Pharmacy in the new NHS".
This guidance, issued in 2004, was intended to inform PCTs in making decisions, as part of the capacity planning process, about the deployment of their unified allocations.
