18 June 2008: Consultation on a Statutory Scheme to Control the Prices of Branded NHS Medicines

A press release was issued by the Department of Health on 18 June 2008 about progress made in the negotiations with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) towards a new PPRS agreement. At the same time the Government issued a consultation paper about the proposed introduction of statutory powers to control prices of branded medicines sold to the NHS from 1 September 2008. Such powers would apply to companies that do not join a new voluntary scheme or in the event that agreement over a new voluntary scheme is not reached.

2 August 2007: Department of Health to re-open negotiations on the PPRS

The Department of Health intends to re-open negotiations with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) about the current PPRS.
