Cancer Datasets: Phase II

  • Last modified date:
    19 January 2004

The National Clinical Audit Support Programme is being launched by the Department of Health this year following the publication of the Kennedy Report into the Bristol Enquiry. Cancer is one of the areas along with some of the other NSFs to be fast-tracked to achieve national comparative audit.

The National Clinical Audit Support Programme (NCASP) represents a phased rollout of phase II of the dataset implementation. National multi-disciplinary groups will be asked to identify key audit questions and a dataset will be extracted from the national cancer dataset to formulate an audit dataset. Phase II will focus on lung and breast cancer from 2003 with subsequent rollout to include other cancer.

The consultation document for the lung cancer questions and dataset is available at www.nhsia.nhs.uk/phsmi
