The documents below contain details about secondary legislation for the Mental Health Act 2007 which received Royal Assent on 19 July 2007. They are intended to inform consideration of the Bill during the remainder of its passage through Parliament.
They consist of draft regulations and directions on key aspects of secondary legislation; and statements of intent on other issues including Supervised Community Treatment; cross border recognition of approved clinicians; and transitional arrangements for people currently on After-care Under Supervision.
Please note that the draft regulations and directions may be subject to change before they become law. They are presented here purely for illustrative purposes.
During the passage of the Bill we identified a number of additional circumstances for which secondary legislation was required. We will consult formally on proposals for regulations, directions and other key pieces of secondary legislation in due course.
