Specialty-specific guidance

  • Last modified date:
    26 July 2007

Guidance for individual clinical specialties provide more detailed information to support commissioners of more specialised services in community settings.  Where they exist these guidelines can be used to guide accreditors towards the kind of evidence that may be expected to be seen and tested during the accreditation process. For any specialist services where clinical guidelines have not yet been developed, accreditors may need to take independent advice from appropriate national or local specialists to support this task.

The Department has commissioned the Royal College of General Practitioners to review the existing guidance.  Revised versions will be published here later in 2007 as competency based specialty guidance applicable to all professions practising as PwSIs or providing specialist care within the specialty.

Where updated guidance is available which replaces existing resources, the latter will be removed from this website.
