Primary Care Trust Medical Services (PCTMS)
PCTs are able to provide services themselves by directly employing staff, under the PCTMS route. The PCT may wish to employ full time staff to provide a full range of services, or employ staff on a sessional or part time basis.
Guidance
When providing services directly, through PCTMS, the PCT must comply with the Directions listed under 'Legislation' below. In addition, the PCT must comply with its standing orders and instructions, and will want to take into consideration its general duties of care. This guidance should be read in conjunction with "Delivering Investment in General Practice".
