Bradford City Teaching PCT will use the programme to help in recruiting GPs and to improve patient access to local primary care services.
One new GP practice will be created in a new building funded through LIFT, and another practice will be significantly expanded and moved into a newly refurbished space. The GPs in these practices will be supported by nurse practitioners, practice nurses and health care assistants, with managerial and administrative back up.
In addition, the tPCT hopes to offer primary care outreach clinics in two parts of the city which currently have limited access to GPs, and an access clinic for urgent appointments to GPs and practice nurses, which will be available by appointment to all the city's patients.
The tPCT also intends to use the programme to help it provide a wider range of services - such as cystoscopy, minor surgery and diagnostics. The whole tPCT population of 150,000 will benefit from these services. In addition, flu immunisation will be offered to certain sections of the community.
