The Workforce Directorate programme of work

 The Workforce Directorate within the Department of Health are responsible for a range of initiatives which include:

  • "More staff, working differently"
  • Pay modernisation
  • Modernising regulation
  • Modernising workforce planning
  • The Skills Escalator
  • Improving staff morale
  • International recruitment.

Within this are a number of strands of work, which may be most relevant to Treatment Centres:

  • Increasing staff numbers
  • Developing new ways of working
  • Development of a competence framework for Peri-operative services (due for completion in March 05)
  • Recruitment, retention and return to practice initiatives (including international recruitment)
  • Agenda for Change and the Consultant Contract.
