Commissioning a Patient-led NHS saw the reconfiguration of PCTs as the first stage in delivering a robust infrastructure from which to strengthen the commissioning function of PCTs. Stage two focused on assessing to what extent PCTs were fit for purpose.
The Fitness for Purpose programme included organisational assessment and commissioning capability diagnostic assessments. The programme took place between May 2006 and March 2007.
The Fitness for Purpose web-based database contains an overview of the data collected as part of the review, which took place between May 2006 and March 2007, and was launched in December 2007. Access is restricted to SHAs and PCTs.
