Pacesetters is a partnership between local communities who experience health inequalities, the NHS and the Department of Health (DH). The Equality and Human Rights Group (EHRG) of DH will work with six strategic health authorities (SHAs) on the programme
The six participating SHA areas are shown in blue on the map:
The overall aim of the programme is to reduce health inequalities for patients and service users, as well as working environments that are fair and free of discrimination.
The Pacesetters programme held their first International Faculty event on 7 November 2007 in London. The day focused on mainstreaming equality and diversity, and brought together a number of experts from around the world to share their experiences and perspectives of the equality and diversity agenda. The day encouraged those attending to exchange their own ideas and experiences and to think about how they can improve outcomes, treatment and experience for service users across the six equality strands.
An introduction to the International Faculty events and the highlights of the day can be seen below.
In collaboration with local communities, DH is working with participating SHAs and trusts to apply service improvement methods across the programme. Both local and international innovations and good practice will inform which ideas can be applied to other settings and locations and inform the Pacesetters evaluation strategy.
The Pacesetters newsletter brings you the latest updates and news from the programme. Every edition is posted on this site.
