Weighted capitation formula

The weighted capitation formula determines PCTs' target shares of available resources to enable them to commission similar levels of healthcare for populations with similar healthcare need.
The Department produces a booklet which aims to make the formula accessible to non-specialists and to satisfy the needs of those requiring a fuller understanding. The booklet is generally updated if there have been changes to the formula in an allocations round. Recent editions are available below.
A short guide to the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 PCT revenue allocations which includes a summary of the weighted capitation formula was attached to Allocation Working Paper(06-07)PCT03 and is available below.
