NHS Chief Executive David Nicholson has recorded a video podcast to explain the importance of the new NHS operating framework for 2007-08.
Mr Nicholson's podcast highlights the achievements made by the NHS in recent years
In the podcast Mr Nicholson highlights the achievements made by the NHS in recent years, including significant reductions in waiting times and improved services for people with coronary heart disease and cancer.
He goes on to outline the key national priorities included in the new framework, as follows:
• reducing waiting time from referral to treatment to a maximum of 18 weeks
• reducing the incidence of healthcare acquired infections
• reducing health inequalities
• improving finances.
