Appraisal for doctors in training in the NHS

Appraisal for doctors in training documentation was developed in conjunction with the Royal Colleges and Faculties with COPMeD and COGPeD, the GMC, the Department of Health and with representatives of the Junior Doctors Committee of the BMA.

NHS Appraisal Documentation for Junior Doctors does not replace College processes and documentation, but brings all documentation whether College or Deanery into an agreed framework.

All doctors are required to undergo regular appraisal. Appraisal for doctors in training is conducted through the framework document.

A small number of SHOs may not have an affiliation with a College or Faculty and may not have a College Logbook; they should approach their Deanery for assistance.
