17 June 2008: David Nicholson, the NHS Chief Executive, has today written to chairs and chief executives of NHS organisations to inform them of increases to remuneration for chairs and non-executive directors; increases in pay for very senior managers; and the approval process for awards to those covered by the Very Senior Managers' Pay Framework

The letter also provides an update on proposals for a new pay framework for very senior managers.

14 August 2003: We are asking NHS employing organisations to take all practical steps to ensure that average pay rises for other senior managers, including (except in the case of three-star Trusts) any performance related pay, do not exceed 3.225% of current pay bill except where changes in job weight justify higher increases. Within this overall envelope, there is scope to vary individual pay rises according to performance.
