There are three key strands of work in hand to implement Trust Assurance and Safety:
On 21 February 2007 the Government published the White Paper, Trust, Assurance and Safety alongside two reports on the Shipman Enquiry. The White Paper sets out the key principles for a lasting settlement for professional regulation. Putting those principles into practice effectively will require the advice and participation of a wide range of stakeholders. These web pages form part of the Department’s commitment to ongoing communication with the many stakeholders interested in this agenda.
Alongside the White Paper, we have also published on 21st February 2007 the Government’s response to the Fifth Report of the Shipman Inquiry, Safeguarding Patients, which sets out a wide-ranging plan of action to put in place new safeguards for society, building on and strengthening existing clinical governance processes. It also addresses the recommendations of the inquiries into the conduct of Richard Neale, Clifford Ayling, Michael Haslam and William Kerr.
