Information supporting NSFs and NCASP
National Service Frameworks (NSFs) each have complex information needs. Individual strategies have been developed to meet them. Also in this section is information about the National Clinical Audit Support Programme (NCASP), developed to meet immediate demand for comparative data in key clinical disciplines
Cancer information strategy
The Cancer Information Strategy is for use by professionals delivering cancer care. It covers use of information by three distinct groups: patients and the public; healthcare professionals; and policy makers and managers
Children's and maternity services information strategy
The Children's & Maternity Services Information Strategy has been written to coincide with the publication of the Children's & Maternity Services National Service Framework (NSF) and to support its Standards.
Coronary heart disease information strategy
The Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) Information Strategy was developed in response to the information demands of the CHD NSF. The strategy identifies ways to monitor and steer CHD services and integrate the workflows of the many organisations involved in treatment.
Diabetes information strategy
The Diabetes Information Strategy and the Diabetes National Service Framework: Delivery Strategy that it supports were launched alongside one another in January 2003. The strategy is intended to ensure that the information infrastructure, systems and services are put in place to support the needs of people with diabetes and and deliver the improved services outlined in the NSF.
Long-term conditions information strategy
This aims to ensure that implementation of the quality requirements in the National Service Framework (NSF) for Long-Term Conditions is facilitated by the availability of the appropriate information for patients, families and carers, the general public and care professionals
Mental health information strategy
The Mental Health Information Strategy describes the way in which information systems and underpinning work can be developed to support modern mental health care delivery. It maps out a path from existing inadequately Mental Health information systems to the precision of integrated information systems to support integrated care, and puts forward a five-year programme to integrate and upgrade the technology used in mental health settings.
Information strategy for the NSF for older people
The Information Strategy for Older People in England was developed in response to the information demands of the Older Peoples NSF. It identifies mechanisms for delivering at risk registers for falls and strokes and provides a supporting framework for the Single Assessment Process.
Renal services information strategy
Implementation of the Renal Services Information Strategy will help deliver the National Service Framework (NSF) for Renal Services through the provision of tools and resources. In particular, the Information Strategy supports the NSF around national comparative audit and provision of nationally available data to support planning and identify local priorities.

Resources for all those in primary care - whether based in general practice, the community or in PCTs - involved in implementing NSFs.
National Clinical Audit Support Programme (NCASP) advice
NCASP supports the production of national comparative risk adjusted clinical audit data in national service framework areas in advance of the widespread implementation of electronic records.
