Initiative to copy patients in on clinicians' letters.
The Copying Letters to Patients initiative is a government objective which originated in the NHS Plan: "letters between clinicians about individual patient's care will be copied to the patient as of right".
Since the Guidance was issued in April 2003, NHS Trusts and PCTs have started to work through the implications of implementation. In doing so they have raised a number of practical questions, which are answered below.
