Getting ready for LINks

Subject to legislation, Local Involvement Networks (LINks) should replace Patient Forums from April 2008. To help local communities prepare, this resource provides guidance on issues such as the actions that local authorities need to consider, who to involve in establishing a network, the resources required and how a network could work.

Strengthening accountability - involving patients and the public; policy guidance: Section 11 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001

These documents outline the statutory duties created by Section 11 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001. It says what NHS organisations must do to meet their responsibilities and the expected outcomes from putting the duty into practice. It is relevant to all staff who are responsible for developing patient and public involvement and it will help to improve the way this is carried out.

Reward and recognition: the principles and practice of service user payment and reimbursement in health and social care (second edition)

Published 1 August 2006, this guide aims to support local health and social care organisations with the principles and practice of reimbursing and paying service users for their involvement.
