Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) across England are currently holding events to launch their visions for improved healthcare as part of Lord Darzi’s Our NHS, our future review.
The documents draw together the themes from the work of the eight Clinical Pathway Groups (CPGs) in each region to present a vision for better healthcare. The SHA visions will be the basis of Lord Darzi’s final Our NHS, our future report in the summer, which will enable and support the delivery of them.
The East of England SHA got the process under way in Cambridge on 12 May. Further events have taken place in Leeds, Torquay, Basingstoke, Manchester and Newcastle. Brighton and Birmingham will host events in early June before the final launch in Kettering on 5 June.
Each launch has had its own unique flavour, reflecting the different character and healthcare ambitions in each region. There have also been many common themes, such as improving mental health care, exploiting new technology and giving patients more of a say.
To read about the launches visit the Our NHS, our future Review website. The website’s homepage has been re-designed to include an interactive map showing the launch process. Each SHA region on the map changes colour when its launch has taken place. Click on the SHA region to read reports and link through to more indepth information.
