Health Trainers motivate and help people to set goals by developing personal health plans, give practical support to carry out those plans and identifiy with the individuals their barriers to change. The initiative was first targeted at the most disadvantaged areas to make it easier for individuals in these communities to make healthier choices.
Health Trainers are a new workforce to be recruited from the community and working in the NHS local organisations including local authorities, businesses, the voluntary and community sector.
This workbook has been developed for Health Trainers in prisons and wider communities as an addition to the learning and teaching resources which support the Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH) Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement Award.
The workbook will be used at several sites throughout the next few months and further developments to the workbook are expected to be incorporated by the autumn.
