DMIT is a voluntary good practice tool that the NHS may wish to use to strengthen their approach to Disease Management, by presenting data at Primary Care Trust (PCT) level on conditions contributing to high numbers of emergency bed days.
DMIT models the effects of possible interventions which may be commissioned at a local level. It aims to support decision-makers, commissioners and deliverers of care for people with LTCs.
DMIT will help users to analyse and consider the likely impact of possible commissioning options before they are taken. This information can then be used to inform commissioning decisions at local level by planning appropriate interventions, matching care to need.
All the information and files on this page form the DMIT toolkit.
Please read the background information and online user guidance before accessing the modules.
PCT level data on emergency admissions, emergency bed days and length of stay in new and old PCT organisations:
NB - very large files
Excel: The module files available on this page are around 50 Mb each. We therefore advise you to save (download) the Excel file on your computer first so that the virus checker can scan the files and then you can run the files with all the macro features built into it.
Zip: For quicker download, the files are also available in zip format.
NB: New Circulatory Interventions Module uploaded 28 November 2007, temporarily removing the assistive technology intervention analysis. We are planning to update the analysis and re-release in late December 2007. Please be aware if you are running a previous version of this module that we are looking into whether the default costs and benefits for assistive technology have been set at the correct level. Please use the option to enter your own figures for these option if running the analysis.
Each time you open the Excel files comprising DMIT, a pop-up box will appear requesting you to choose a 'macro' setting. Always select 'enable macros' to ensure you are able to navigate around the toolkit. If you are still experiencing problems with the Excel files, your security settings may be too high. Before you download the files, re-set your security settings as follows:
1: Open Excel
2: Go to the 'Tools' menu
3: Select the 'Macros' option
4: Select 'Security'
5: Select the 'Medium' option
6: Click the 'OK' button.
