The Department of Health and the National Association of GP Co-operatives are working collaboratively to develop ways for co-operatives to evolve sustainability.
The Department of Health has sponsored the publication of guidance on the evolution of co-operatives into mutual societies. These new structures will build on the success of the co-operative structure, with its shared ownership and responsibilities, but involve a wider range of stakeholders in the interests of the community.
A publication is now available entitled Care on Call: A mutual approach to out-of-hours primary care services, which gives further information on the legal and organisational details of community mutuals.
It is available at:
Further guidance on mutual constitutions will be available in early March.
