The 'Our health, our care, our say: a new direction in community services' White Paper details how GP practices will directly help deliver the Government's vision of more effective health and social care services outside hospitals
More personalised care will be driven by increasing the number of GP practices with which people can register, longer opening hours and linking GPs' pay with patient satisfaction. NHS Walk-in Centres will also be expanded and people will be offered an NHS 'Life Check' to help assess their own risk of ill health.
New GMS contract changes
Changes to the new General Medical Services national contract for 2006-2007 have been announced following negotiations between the Department of Health, NHS Employers and the British Medical Association.
