New high mileage threshold
Current mileage rates for chairs and non-executives are 43p or 53p per mile, depending on the size of vehicle.
From 3 June 2003 these rates will be payable up to an annual mileage of 7,500 miles (currently 5,000 miles). The rates above the threshold will continue to be 18.3p and 20.5p per mile respectively.
Provision of expenses to non-executives who are carers
The Appointments Commission has been pressing the Department of Health to extend the childcare provisions for non-executives to those with carer responsibilities (e.g. elderly, disabled or infirm relatives).
From 3 June 2003 reimbursement will now be payable for actual carer expenses incurred whilst non-executives are absent from home on board business.
