3. Operating Framework 2007/08: PCT baseline review of services for end of life care (Gateway reference number: 8116)

PCTs are required to undertake a baseline review of end of life care services in preparation for the End of Life Care Strategy. The questions in the review are designed to provide all the information commissioners may need in order to develop stronger commissioning for end of life, working with a variety of service providers. 4. Promoting mental health for children held in secure settings - A framework for commissioning services (Gateway reference 7427)

This strategic framework highlights the needs of children held in secure settings, including those held for reasons not related to offending, to be considered in the commissioning and provision of access to comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services to achieve Standard 9 of the Children's National Service Framework.

7. Senior managers’ guide – Drugs bill (Gateway reference number: 8148)

The guide provides details of the information and support that is currently available nationally on prescribing data in primary care to help commissioners to understand and influence the growth in prescribing costs. See guide at:

8. Information security management: NHS code of best practice (Gateway reference number: 7974)

A new code of practice on NHS information security management, which reflects the latest requirements and best practice, is now available at:

9. HRG4 2006/07 reference costs software released (Gateway reference number: 8169)

The HRG4 reference cost grouping software, V4.0.1, is now available to download. Trusts will use the software to submit 2006/07 reference costs collections, which will inform payment by results (PbR) future tariff in line with the Department of Health’s policy developments. These are currently out to consultation. See:
