This Advance Letter formally confirms the pay arrangements for those NHS medical and dental consultants employed on the new 2003 national terms and conditions. From 31 October 2003 consultants have had the option of taking up the new contract or remaining on their current terms and conditions. All appointments to consultant posts first advertised after 31 October should be offered only on the terms of the new contract.
From April 2005 NHS Employers will be issuing PC (M&D) circulars to replace the Departments AL (MD) series. The circulars will be available from the NHS Employers' web site.
