This letter from the Chief Medical Officer outlines the Government's response to the Health Select Committee's Report on the Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism in Hospitalised Patients, published earlier this year. It summarises the key findings of the Committee's report; announces the establishment of a Working Group, which will develop a comprehensive strategy that includes both treatment and prevention and highlights a selection of the key existing guidelines that aid the prevention of venous thromboembolism in hospitalised patients.
