This letter from Debbie Mellor, Head of Workforce Capacity, provides notification of a new 2005/06 revenue allocation for Strategic Health Authorities. The allocation is to fund the Primary Care Development Scheme. The aim of the scheme is to improve the capacity in areas where there are recruitment difficulties in General Practice.
The Primary Care Development Scheme replaces the GP Golden Hello Scheme, which ceased on 01 April 2005.
Directors of Finance for Strategic Health Authorities are asked to make necessary arrangements to develop the Primary Care Development Scheme with the Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in their area, in consultation with Local Medical Committees and GP postgraduate deaneries.
The framework for the Primary Care Development Scheme has been supplied below along with the 2005/06 allocations schedule.
