Primary care trust (PCT) shares of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 Learning Disability Development Fund (LDDF) are announced to NHS finance colleagues under cover of an Allocation Working Paper (AWP). Allocations are intended to be used to support the implementation of Valuing People on priorities agreed by local Learning Disability Partnership Boards as set out in Annex B of HSC 2001/016 and LAC(2001)23.

The Government's priorities for the use of this funding in 2006-07 are:

  • Strengthening advocacy;
  • Person centred approaches;
  • Leadership development;
  • Day services modernisation;
  • NHS Campus reprovision;
  • Supported living approaches for people living with older family carers;
  • Increasing the number of people with learning disabilities in paid work.

The Minister for Care Services, Liam Byrne is keen to see that this money is allocated appropriately and used for the priorities agreed with the Partnership Board.  He is particularly concerned that across all the priorities, attention is paid to ensuring the money benefits people with learning disabilities from minority ethnic communties.

These priorities will be reviewed for 2007-08.
