This letter from the Chief Medical Officer is to announce the appointments of the Directors of Public Health. They will have a key role in future public health leadership, responsible for the public health function (population health improvement, health inequalities, health protection, health emergency planning, clinical quality and patient safety) and they will be an asset to the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) and the Government Office Boards.
