The accompanying booklet provides guidelines for inclusion in NHS Trust and health authority procedures for dealing with the identification and rehabilitation of doctors whose performance gives cause for concern. The booklet complements the guidance which has accompanied the introduction of the General Medical Council's professional performance procedures which are operated under the Medical Act 1983 as amended by the Medical (Professional Performance) Act 1995.
