This letter introduces new guidelines on the appointments process for Chief Executives, Executive Board Members and other similar senior posts in NHS Trusts and Health Authorities. Chairmen of NHS Trusts and Health Authorities are expected to have regard to the guidelines which, for the most part, formalise existing arrangements between NHS Trusts and Health Authorities and Regional Offices.
