This letter gives information about a GMS flexibility which can be introduced from 1 April 1998. GMS Local Development Schemes are intended to give Health Authorities flexibilities to improve the quality and responsiveness of General Medical Services by giving local GPs financial incentives beyond those set out in the Red Book.
