This letter encloses a resource pack containing: a video explaining the essential elements of the Controls Assurance Project based on the national controls assurance conference held in Birmingham in November 1996; a booklet on the progress of the pilot sites; a paper entitled Guidance: First Principles which provides guidance on the suggested approach to tackling controls assurance statements; and a copy of HSG(97)17 which introduced controls assurance statements.
