HSC 2001/005: Governance in the new NHS: controls assurance statements 2000/2001 and establishment of the controls assurance unit

This HSC sets out the key actions required to be taken by Chief Executives of NHS Trusts, Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts and Chief Internal Auditors to meet controls assurance requirements for 2000/2001. It should be read in conjunction with HSC 1999/123: Governance in the new NHS #8211; Risk management and organisational controls 'Guidelines for implementing controls assurance in the NHS #8211; Guidance for directors' HSC 2000/032: Decontamination of medical devices It also advises the service of the establishment of a Controls Assurance Support Unit at Keele University and provides background information on a number of relevant issues.
