The enclosed booklet supersedes 1990 guidance on HIV and hepatitis viruses, and prevention of their transmission in health care settings. In addition to new information about recognised blood-borne viruses, this revision includes detailed examples of measures which may reduce the risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne viruses. It provides guidance also on an integrated approach to the management of occupational exposure incidents when they occur.
