Department of Health Circular'This circular sets out the action that NHS trusts, primary care groups and health authorities should take to develop a strategy to implement section 21 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) across the NHS. Other health care providers (including GPs, dentists, pharmacists and opticians, also need to consider what action they will need to take to comply with Section 21 of the DDA. The attached report by Disability Matters "Working in partnership to implement Section 21 of the Disability Discrimination Act across the National Health Service" provides a framework of good practice to undertake work in this area. This circular draws out the essential elements of a programme ofwsork to implement Section 21 of the DDA.
