There will be no national increase to the current rates of pay for general and senior managers for the year from 1 September 1997. Increases to the existing national rates, or other payments, may, however, be made locally. This is identical to the arrangements for the pay year from 1 September 1996 set out in HSG(97)1 . The last published pay rates for general and senior managers appeared in HSG(96)1 when a 1 % national award was announced with additional provision for local pay awards (effective from 1 September 1995). Details of the new arrangements for general and senior managers will follow shortly.
