Further to EL(97)67 on cancer screening, which stated that targeted action will be taken to improve the overall organisation of the cervical screening programme, this letter draws health authorities' attention to the publication of guidance on the commissioning of cervical screening to maximise the effectiveness of local screening programmes in accordance with national standards for the cervical screening programme.
